T-Rock's Take on the Giants
ORLANDO, Fla. — Newly signed Giants offensive lineman John Jerry will not be suspended by the NFL for his role in the culture of bullying and harassment in the Dolphins’ locker room last season as detailed in the Wells Report, but he could be required to receive some sort of counseling or treatment.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said on Monday that the league and the NFL Players Association have...Read more »
Orlando – High five for the Giants!
Despite projecting for themselves a relatively low compensatory pick in the upcoming draft, the Giants were instead awarded with a fifth-rounder, the 174th overall selection. It was enough of a surprise for general manager Jerry Reese to quip to reporters at the NFL Annual Meeting that it was “the best thing that happened to us today.”
The addition...Read more »
ORLANDO – Just because Justin Tuck no longer plays for the team doesn’t mean he’s not a Giant.
At least that’s what the team’s co-owner said less than a week after the two-time Super Bowl winner and defensive captain signed with the Radiers.
“It’s not goodbye, I think, and this is me, I think it’s see you soon,” Steve Tisch said at the NFL’s League Meetings in Orlando. “You can’t separate...Read more »
In a perfect world the Giants wanted to sign a kick returner who could also play wide receiver. That was why they had interest in Jacoby Jones and Ted Ginn Jr. before they signed elsewhere. Well, the NFL is not a perfect world. And with the team still looking to upgrade its return game it agreed to terms late Saturday night with safety Quintin Demps.
Demps most recently played for the Chiefs...Read more »
The Giants are getting their own piece of the Boom.
They have agreed to terms with cornerback Walter Thurmond, who was most recently a part of the Seahawks’ Super Bowl-winning “Legion of Boom” secondary. The deal is reportedly a one-year contract.
Thurmond started three regular-season games plus the Super Bowl for the Seahawks, but he played in 15 of the team’s 19 games mostly covering...Read more »
With about an hour to go before free agency begins, the Giants are busily signing some of their own players to stick around.
So far they have agreed to terms with safety Stevie Brown, cornerback Trumaine McBride, running back Peyton Hillis and kicker Josh Brown.
The return of Stevie Brown, who is coming off ACL surgery, should give the Giants a pretty good group at safety. With Brown,...Read more »
Remember yesterday when there were reports that Hakeem Nicks would be willing to play on a one-year “prove it” deal? Scratch that. And the idea that he would be open to a return to the Giants? Scratch that one too.
Oddly enough, the original report and the refutations both come to us via ESPN.
The latest is from today, when Nicks apparently spoke directly with Josina Anderson about where...Read more »
With the market price for cornerbacks becoming clearer – Sam Shields re-signed with the Packers for $39 million over four years tonight while Brent Grimes re-upped with the Dolphins for $32 million over four years – the player many believe to be the best available player at the position remains out there.
And the Giants are interested.
According to The Tennessean, the Giants are among...Read more »
Chris Snee’s contract will be restructured and he will take a pay cut. But it probably won’t happen before the start of the new league year on Tuesday.
The Giants’ don’t need to trim Snee’s number to get under the salary cap by that 4 p.m. deadline – they’re actually in very good shape in that regard – but they’d still like to save a few (million?) bucks on a player who they hope will be but...Read more »
The Giants have re-signed a middle linebacker before he was able to hit the market for free agency. It’s just not the one that many expected.
Mark Herzlich agreed to a new contract, ensuring his return for a fourth season with the team. Herzlich was to become a restricted free agent on Tuesday, and while the terms of his deal were not announced, it is believed to be a one-year agreement for...Read more »
