T-Rock's Take on the Giants
The Giants’ first game as a non-playoff team this season comes against a brash squad from Seattle that is poised to clinch the top seed in the NFC. That could lead to a lopsided score if the Giants aren’t careful.
“The last thing you want to be is embarrassed and this is a team that, if you’re not ready to play, they will embarrass you and laugh about it,” Justin Tuck said on Wednesday, the...Read more »
Justin Tuck said that when he came off the field from last night’s four-sack performance against the Redskins, one of the first texts he saw on his phone was from Osi Umenyiora. The two had been teammates for years and remain close friends even though Umenyiora is playing for the Falcons this year.
So what did Osi tell Tuck?
“It was an amazing performance from him and I told him how...Read more »
Justin Tuck spoke at today’s NFL Play 60 event at Maxson Middle School in Plainfield, NJ, about how his job description as a captain has changed this season thanks to Antrel Rolle. He said he spoke to Rolle during the offseason and asked him to be more of a vocal, rah-rah type of leader “to allow me to, when need be, go talk to guys one-on-one.”
Well, the need was be-ed on Sunday when Hakeem...Read more »
I’ve been to many, many off-the-field events headlined by Justin Tuck over the last few years, which says a lot more about his commitment to the community than my doggedness in reporting about him. From his Tuck’s RUSH for Literacy campaign to other endeavors with school-aged kids, he always has time to talk to the students, pose for pictures, sign autographs, hand out books and, of course, give...Read more »
In a scene that could conceivably become part of the trailer for next year’s string of episodes, Justin Tuck was asked today about the new NFL rule that could force a team to be filmed on “Hard Knocks.”
“The NFL is trippin’,” Tuck said. “Seriously. How you gonna pass a rule to force you to be on Hard Knocks? … That’s hilarious. Wow. That’s hilarious.”
They NFL did that on Tuesday. Of...Read more »
The Giants’ bandwagon may be emptying these days, but the players don’t have much need for those who are bailing.
“They ain’t real fans,” Jason Pierre-Paul said. “If they gave up, they ain’t real Giants’ fans. At the end of the day, we’ll never give up on ourselves.”
Justin Tuck also addressed those who have thrown in the towel.
“Don’t be a fair-weather fan,” he said. “It’s about...Read more »
Justin Tuck will spend this week trying to make sure the Giants are fired up and passionate. Yesterday, though, he spent some time trying to get New York City middle schoolers fired up and passionate about reading.
Tuck launched the sixth season of his Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy campaign which encourages young students to read. The event took place yesterday at the headquarters of Scholastic...Read more »
Justin Tuck doesn’t get to decide which quarterback he’d rather have playing on his team. But if he did, he’d choose the one he has now.
“Eli has been in the league less years and has more Super Bowls,” Tuck said when asked to decide – hypothetically – between Eli and Peyton Manning. “That makes him the quarterback I’m going to go with.”
What he didn’t say, though, is that Eli is “better”...Read more »
The Giants' defense was ranked 31st in the NFL last season, but Justin Tuck believes they can do better. About 30 spots better.
“The ceiling is the No.1 defense,” Tuck said Thursday. “That has to be the ceiling. That has to be your thought process. I don’t think anybody in that defensive meeting room can allow themselves to think that we can’t do that.”
That’s a pretty high bar to set,...Read more »
The Giants lined up in so many wacky, unorthodox formations on defense today, that there were times when it was hard to tell if they were actually practicing those looks for use in games or just experimenting. But there is definitely something different in this season’s defense (after finishing 31st, there’d better be!) and the Giants are playing it pretty close to the vest when it comes to talking...Read more »
