The fullback and center, respectively, both ended the season on injured reserve and go into this offseason as restricted free agents. It’ll be a middle linebacker reunion in Carolina this weekend when Mark Herzlich gets to see the player he mentored in college and the player who mentored him in the NFL.

As we’ve seen in the past, a good week of practice is not guaranteed to transfer over to the game on Sunday. But today’s practice, many players agreed, had a little more spark and energy and fire than just a regular Wednesday workout. The starting middle linebacker who left Sunday’s opener with a burner just before halftime was placed on season-ending injured reserve today. Connor also suffered a burner against the Patriots in the preseason finale.
