T-Rock's Take on the Giants
I always have the same reaction whenever something big and newsy takes place:
How does this affect me?
Following that way of thinking, let’s take a look at the first round of the draft from last night through the prism of what it means to the Giants. Obviously they made their pick, but many of the teams on their schedule made picks as well. So here’s a look at what kind of first-rounders...Read more »
So, Eric Ebron … about those drops?
“I do not drop too many passes,” the tight end from North Carolina -- and, some people seem to believe, future Giant – said at the NFL’s Play 60 event in New York on Wednesday. “I had a rough sophomore year, yeah. I learned a new system. My junior year I only dropped four passes out of 63. Big whoop!”
It became a bit of a bigger whoop when he dropped...Read more »
There are two ways to get to the NFL Draft. The first is to be genetically gifted as one of the most athletic human beings on earth, work hard to chisel your body into shape, play anywhere from two to four years of college football at an incredibly high level, and get yourself invited by the Commissioner to sit in the green room and wait to hear your name called.
The second way is much easier....Read more »
As you are no doubt aware, the NFL is going to announce it's 2014 regular season schedule tonight at 8 p.m., a big mega unveiling that will take up several hours of programming on TWO networks.
But the Giants' schedule slipped out a little early thanks to the folks at WFAN (the station that, oh by the way, broadcasts the Giants games). So since "da cat is outer da bag" as they might say on...Read more »
Orlando – High five for the Giants!
Despite projecting for themselves a relatively low compensatory pick in the upcoming draft, the Giants were instead awarded with a fifth-rounder, the 174th overall selection. It was enough of a surprise for general manager Jerry Reese to quip to reporters at the NFL Annual Meeting that it was “the best thing that happened to us today.”
The addition...Read more »
With the market price for cornerbacks becoming clearer – Sam Shields re-signed with the Packers for $39 million over four years tonight while Brent Grimes re-upped with the Dolphins for $32 million over four years – the player many believe to be the best available player at the position remains out there.
And the Giants are interested.
According to The Tennessean, the Giants are among...Read more »
I’ve been to many, many off-the-field events headlined by Justin Tuck over the last few years, which says a lot more about his commitment to the community than my doggedness in reporting about him. From his Tuck’s RUSH for Literacy campaign to other endeavors with school-aged kids, he always has time to talk to the students, pose for pictures, sign autographs, hand out books and, of course, give...Read more »
In other Antrel Rolle news, the Giants safety said his hit on wide receiver Jerome Simpson last night was “absolutely not a penalty” and he will appeal any fines that the NFL levies against him for the play.
The play happened with a little less than two minutes left in the first half and Rolle came across the field and leveled Simpson. Flags flew.
“It absolutely was not a penalty,” Rolle...Read more »
If the Giants lose tonight, the big question will no longer be how low the team can go. It will be how low should they go?
At 0-7, the season would ostensibly be over and it would be time to start planning for the future. That means the 2014 draft. And while there will undoubtedly be “competition” for the top pick in that selection process with the Jaguars and the Bucs, the two other winless...Read more »
In a scene that could conceivably become part of the trailer for next year’s string of episodes, Justin Tuck was asked today about the new NFL rule that could force a team to be filmed on “Hard Knocks.”
“The NFL is trippin’,” Tuck said. “Seriously. How you gonna pass a rule to force you to be on Hard Knocks? … That’s hilarious. Wow. That’s hilarious.”
They NFL did that on Tuesday. Of...Read more »
