T-Rock's Take on the Giants
Realizing how difficult it can be to keep up with every detail throughout the day, I’ll try to post a digest each night that lets you know what the most significant parts of training camp were so you can at least appear to be in tune with the team when you gather around the water cooler.
Here are the four most important things you need to know about what went down at Giants training camp today:

Running back David Wilson hasn’t yet played in the Giants’ new offense, but when he does he thinks he’ll be able to flourish.
"No decisions," he said.
And he’s not the first player to note the simplicity of the system. The wide receivers have been glowing about not having to decipher coverages and signal their intentions back to the quarterback like they used to do under the...Read more »
A day after David Wilson got the good-but-not-great news that his neck is healing properly and that he should be cleared for the start of training camp -- but hasn't been cleared yet -- Tom Coughlin was happy that his running back seems to be on the road back to the field.
“No question about it,” Coughlin said. “Four-and-a-half months out (from surgery), looking forward to August. Progress...Read more »
INDIANAPOLIS – We’re here at the NFL Scouting Combine to talk about the future players, but inevitably when coaches come to the podium questions turn to the players already on the roster. Particularly the ones who are coming off of injuries or heading into free agency. So here’s a roundup of the current Giants that Tom Coughlin spoke about on Friday:
“We’re very confident...Read more »
INDIANAPOLIS -- Tom Coughlin and John Mara have agreed on a contract extension, but they do not agree on how to describe the disappointing 2013 season.
In the days after the season ended with a 7-9 record, Mara, the team’s co-owner, described the offense as “broken.” Since then, the Giants have revamped their offensive coaching staff. Coordinator Kevin Gilbride retired and long-time assistants...Read more »
Don’t count on David Wilson being in the Giants’ backfield next season. Because the Giants sure aren’t.
The second-year running back and former first-round pick missed most of this season with a disc injury in his neck as well as a diagnosis of spinal stenosis and may have surgery this offseason.
“I think we’ll have to have some contingency plans at the running back position,” general...Read more »
The Giants began the season believing that they had a dynamic one-two running back punch in Andre Brown and David Wilson. There was even a time in training camp in which the two were listed as co-starters and talk that they might be able to become an NFL rarity: two 1,000-yard rushers from the same backfield. But the season never materialized that way and, as it turned out, neither of them was ever...Read more »
Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz returned to practice just as he said he would, but he did so wearing some unusual clothing. Instead of donning his normal white jersey with the number 80 on it and his name across the back, Cruz was wearing a red jersey, number 8, with no number. In other words, a non-contact jersey, the kind that quarterbacks typically wear. (This one in particular...Read more »
David Wilson is out for the game against the Philadelphia Eagles with a neck injury, the Giants announced just before the start of the second half.
The Giants' running back left the game after the last play of the first quarter when he was nearly dropped in the end zone for a safety.
Before suffering the injury, Wilson scored his first touchdown of the season on the Giants' opening drive...Read more »
Da’Rel Scott was the Giants’ starting running back on Sunday and by some statistical measures was the most productive member of the team’s backfield. Now he’s gone.
Scott was waived to make room on the roster for Dallas Reynolds, a center who most recently played for the Eagles and could be in line to replace David Baas with the Giants if Baas’ neck injury does not improve. Jim Cordle started...Read more »
