T-Rock's Take on the Giants
Eli Manning said he’ll play no matter who is blocking for him.
Funny, because Dallas Reynolds said he’ll block no matter who is behind him.
Reynolds, one of the last available pieces of the offensive line who may be pushed into action on Sunday against the Lions and the ferocious front of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, said he was not surprised that Manning chose to play behind the...Read more »
Phil Simms says Eli Manning and the Giants have hit “rock bottom.”
After Sunday’s 23-0 loss to the Seahawks in which the Giants’ quarterback threw a career-high five interceptions and set the franchise record for most picks in his career, Simms addressed the mess that his former team has become on today’s episode of NFL Monday QB on CBS Sports Network.
“Sometimes you just have to hit...Read more »
Some players can’t handle the pressure of playing in a contract year, knowing that they are performing for more than a lifetime’s worth of money. For Will Beatty, this season has been just the opposite. The left tackle said he has struggled in 2013 because he is trying to live up to the contract that he signed with the Giants this past offseason.
“I know I came into this year trying to do...Read more »
David Diehl is the only current Giants player who was a member of the team for the 2004 draft when the franchise-altering trade for Eli Manning was made. In fact, Diehl had an up-close view of the action.
“I was at the draft that day, working the draft and doing stuff for ESPN,” he recalled today as most of the locker room conversation revolved around the trade due to this week’s game against...Read more »
After a dreadful 0-6 start, the Giants have won three games in a row and suddenly find their season very much alive in a wild NFC East.
But what’s changed about this team that not so long ago looked helpless?
During their 0-6 start, the Giants favored the pass by more than a 2-1 ratio. The offense attempted 233 passes (38.8 per game) and running backs had 113 carries (18.8...Read more »
The Giants’ offense had more net rushing yards than passing yards in Sunday’s win over the Raiders, the first time that’s happened in almost three full seasons. Eli Manning said in his WFAN appearance Monday evening that was largely due to the Oakland defense, which was “stubborn” in keeping two safeties back.
“I was itching to throw the ball some more but they were staying back there,” he...Read more »
Peyton Manning is doing something today that Eli Manning hardly ever does. He’s missing practice with an injury.
Big Brother apparently tweaked his ankle and is taking a day off from the workouts today, and he’s expected to be back in the Broncos’ saddle by tomorrow and in time for Sunday’s game. But it’s still enough to send ripples.
So how has Eli been able to avoid injury? Look around...Read more »
With the NFL trading deadline at the end of the week, there is still uncertainty about what the Giants will do with Hakeem Nicks. Certainly there are contending teams that are in the market for a wide receiver – the Colts, Patriots, Falcons and Packers – and Nicks isn’t exactly a major contributor to the Giants’ offense these days. On Monday he was targeted 10 times and caught just two passes.
But...Read more »
Even the guy who would benefit the most from benching Eli Manning seems to be against the idea.
“Eli is our quarterback and I think he’s doing a great job and he’ll continue to do a great job,” backup quarterback Curtis Painter said (apparently using the word “great” as a euphemism for “interception-prone”). Manning leads the league with 15 interceptions and some questions have started to...Read more »
The Giants have the most turnovers in the NFL with 22, and Jared Allen and the Vikings would like to add to that number.
“When a team is turning the ball over, we went through it last year for a spurt, it can be one of those things that can be like a domino effect and it keeps happening,” the Vikings defensive end said. “Anytime a team is struggling, you want to put them in situations to remind...Read more »
