The Giants lead the NFL with 39 turnovers while the Lions are second with 31. The two teams have a combined turnover differential of minus-30. With the Giants offense struggling, defensive coordinator Perry Fewell put the pressure on his unit to force the Lions to keep up that pace.

Two elements are in place to help the Giants defense improve from its dismal ranking of 31st last season: Butts and blitzes.
The first one is certainly the most obvious, if not the most giggle-inducing. Asked today how his defense will look different, coordinator Perry Fewell pointed immediately to the backsides of his defensive tackles.

The Giants lined up in so many wacky, unorthodox formations on defense today, that there were times when it was hard to tell if they were actually practicing those looks for use in games or just experimenting.
