The Giants lined up in so many wacky, unorthodox formations on defense today, that there were times when it was hard to tell if they were actually practicing those looks for use in games or just experimenting. Victor Cruz scored the big touchdown in Saturday’s win over the Steelers, but there was a good chance that it could have been Rueben Randle. The second-year receiver was the target on Eli Manning’s first pass of the second drive and despite having a step on the defense he was not able to bring the ball in.

Hakeem Nicks was limited in today’s practice a day after experiencing tightness in his groin. For those not in the know, the word “limited” means he participated in a few drills, ran a few routes, but sat most of them out. For example: He took a few reps in 11-on-11 action, but did not have any passes thrown to him. He did not go in 7-on-7 work. But he did do some individual drills with the quarterbacks.
