T-Rock's Take on the Giants
Victor Cruz has been a star in the NFL for a few years now, but today he officially became a Point of Light.
The Giants receiver was presented with the Daily Point of Light award this morning in Manhattan from Points of Light, the world’s largest organization dedicated to volunteer service, and JP Morgan Chase & Co. Cruz, along with CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group Danny Meyer, and...Read more »
Jason Pierre-Paul has gone from back problems to just plain old back.
The defensive end who is the Giants’ most dynamic playmaker on the defensive front will play against the Cowboys in Sunday night’s opener at AT&T Stadium. Pierre-Paul underwent back surgery this spring and was always projected to be ready for the opener, but he was coy this week even as he participated in team practices....Read more »
Tom Coughlin gave the most optimistic three words yet on the status of Victor Cruz and Jason Pierre-Paul on Wednesday: “Full speed ahead.”
And yes, the two of them were practicing with the Giants on Wednesday in the first gameplan-specific workout of the season. Coughlin admitted that they might wind up being limited on the official injury report that comes out later, but he seemed convinced...Read more »
Antrel Rolle was coy about when he might return to practice, but not what he’ll do when he does.
“You’ll see when I see,” he said. “I don’t know. Whenever I’m out there you’ll know I’m out there. I’ll make a lot of noise.”
Rolle was doing some intense agility drills and running yesterday and looked like he was on the verge of returning. It was last Monday that he sprained his ankle and...Read more »
Well, I don’t think THAT was scripted on the scouting cards.
Most of practice was played off of the diagrams that the coaches make up to prepare for the upcoming opponent, so there was very little in the way of live action. Guys were playing hard and there were some interesting things to note, but most of it was just working on fits and placements in shells.
Practice ended...Read more »
Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas may be getting eased back in as far as his snap count goes, but when it comes to the competition he’s facing, he’s cannonballing into the pool.
In his first few days taking team reps, he has found himself with the first nickel defense, and that has meant covering Victor Cruz. A few times he’s been able to cover Cruz. Yesterday, there was a play in which Cruz...Read more »
Victor Cruz scored the big touchdown in Saturday’s win over the Steelers, but there was a good chance that it could have been Rueben Randle. The second-year receiver was the target on Eli Manning’s first pass of the second drive and despite having a step on the defense he was not able to bring the ball in.
“It was just one of those plays you wish you had back,” Randle said. “If I came off...Read more »
Back when Victor Cruz was making squat as an undrafted rookie, he scored three touchdowns in the preseason opener. On Saturday night in Pittsburgh, his first game after signing a six-year, $46-million extension, he scored just one.
Clearly the Giants are wasting their money on this guy.
All kidding aside, Cruz said his first game as a rich person was really no different than any of his...Read more »
Don’t worry, touchdown dance fans, the salsa isn’t going anywhere.
After Victor Cruz scored on a 57-yard reception in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Steelers, he gave what can be considered an abbreviated version of his signature dance move. Then he waved off the crowd and flashed a Jay Z Roc Nation hand gesture. There were some – including me – who thought that by combining...Read more »
After a day off from practice, the Giants returned to the field with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.
“Sometimes a little too much,” Tom Coughlin said.
That’s because the big bad defense kept knocking his poor little running backs to the ground. The first time it happened Coughlin had a legitimate gripe. Ryan Mundy came in and leveled Ryan Torain and Torain was slow getting up. That was...Read more »
