Tiki not bothered by some fans booing
Tiki Barber knew some fans at Giants Stadium would boo when he was introduced before yesterday's game against the Cowboys.
Many still have not forgiven him for his critiques of the Giants, including coach Tom Coughlin and quarterback Eli Manning, in 2007, or for his midseason retirement announcement in 2006.
Sure enough, there were boos amid some cheers as he joined former teammates Sam Garnes, Keith Hamilton and Greg Comella from the 2000 NFC championship team as honorary captains.
Barber said he is not surprised some still hold a grudge.
"It's New York,'' he said with a laugh. "People hate you for no reason here. But I don't mind it . . . Whatever their reaction is, it's appropriate. It doesn't bother me.''
But Barber said he has a "great relationship with this organization and everyone in it'' and said those who believe he has anything against the team are mistaken.
"I almost have to scream idiocy if anyone would ever think that,'' he said. "I spent my life here, put blood, sweat and tears and everything else on that football field for those same people who either boo or cheer me. To think I'm anti-Giant is insane.''
