Bucs sign Gholston
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed a pass rusher named Gholston, but it's not Vernon, the former Jets' linebacker who never made an impact in the NFL. It's Gholston's cousin, William, a Michigan State defensive end who was the Bucs' fourth-round draft choice.
While Vernon Gholston, who didn't have a sack in three seasons with the Jets, has been out of the league since the Jets released him in 2010, William Gholston is being looked to as a candidate to compete for a spot in the defensive end rotation. The 6-7, 278-pound lineman had 142 tackles, 10 sacks and two forced fumbles in his three seasons at Michigan State.
