Greg Jennings to the Vikings
Like Brett Favre and Ryan Longwell before him, long-time Packers star Greg Jennings has joined the enemy. Or, in this case, the Vikings.
Jennings had hoped to remain with the Packers, but Green Bay declined to get into a bidding war with the Vikings and watched as their 30-year-old receiver traded the green-and-gold for the purple-and-white.
Jennings is certainly a terrific talent, but age and injuries caught up with him last year, and Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson, who likes to go younger and cheaper whenever he can, opted not to win this financial tug-of-war with the NFC North rival Vikings. Minnesota signed Jennings to a five-year contract, terms of which were not immediately known.
Minnesota, which traded wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seahawks earlier this week, now gets a big-time receiving threat for Christian Ponder. And it's one more potential landing spot to cross off the list for Giants restricted free agent Victor Cruz.
