Newsday's Bob Glauber goes the extra yard for the inside scoop on the NFL.
If Texas secedes, what happens to the Dallas Cowboys?
Enjoy the Cowboys' game on Thanksgiving; they might not live in a state that's part of the USA next year.
That thought is written with tongue planted firmly in cheek, of course. The Cowboys will be part of the NFL and their home state of Texas will be part of the USA (more importantly).
But the idea of secession has gained notoriety recently due to several petitions filed to We the People, the White Houses' official site for people to...well, file petitions.
Of the 211 open petitions on the We the People site, seceding from the Union is the most popular by far, inspiring 74 different petitions that cover all 50 states.
So why pick on the Cowboys and Texas? Well the Lone Star State has the most signatures, garnering 115,078 signers on just one petition for the state (there are a few).
So if Texas actually seceded what would happen to “America's Team”, the Dallas Cowboys?
Good news is, there's a better chance of Tony Romo actually winning a playoff game than Texas seceding.
