In the wake of a lawsuit filed by two former Jets massage therapists against Brett Favre and the Jets, the team issued a statement saying the case is without merit.

"Unfortunately, the plaintiffs never reported the allegations to the Jets, either during or after the conclusion of their work," said Gary H. Glaser, employment counsel to the Jets. "The case against the Jets is completely without merit, and we look forward to defending the matter in court, where we are confident that the Jets will prevail.”

Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole are seeking unspecified damages from Favre, the Jets and a Jets massage coordinator. The suit also includes a message Favre allegedly sent to a third, unidentified massage therapist. "Kinda lonely tonight," it says. "I guess I have bad intentions."

The lawsuit comes five days after the NFL fined Favre $50,000 for not cooperating in an investigation into allegations he sent racing text messages and photos to former Jets game day host Jenn Sterger in 2008.

Favre has announced his retirement after 20 NFL seasons.
