It probably came two weeks later than he had wanted, but Long Island native Mike Catapano finally made his NFL preseason debut for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Playing linebacker, Catapano assisted on one tackle in the Chiefs' 26-20 overtime win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday night at Heinz Field.

Catapano, who grew up in Bayville, starred at Chaminade High School before playing college ball at Princeton, where he won the Ivy League's Defensive Player of the Year in 2012. The Chiefs drafted Catapano with the first pick of the seventh round in the 2013 NFL draft.

The 23-year-old Catapano did not play in the Chiefs' first two preseason games because of a calf injury.
