NFL owners approve knee, thigh pads
Beginning with the 2013 season, NFL players will be required to wear knee and thigh pads.
NFL owners approved a measure today in a bid to enhance player safety. However, further discussions with the NFL Players Association will need to take place before the rule is implemented. Many players believe that thigh and knee pads shouldn't be required because their use may limit the players' speed.
