Rex Ryan takes a shot at the Ravens
The Jets' loquacious coach is at it again, this time taking a jab at his old Ravens team for giving second-round pick Paul Kruger, a linebacker from Utah, the No. 99.
Ryan, a Ravens' defensive assistant from 1999-2008, was disappointed the Ravens would give away the uniform number once worn by Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary, a fine pass rusher in his day. Ryan was discussing a collage he used to have made up for the back of the Ravens' playbooks, stressing the long history of quality defenses in Baltimore.
Then he brought up the fact that McCrary's number was given away this year.
"I am disappointed that they gave his jersey to some rookie who hasn't proven [rhymes with spit]," Ryan said. "Excuse my language."
Jets PR man Bruce Speight closed both eyes and winced when Ryan made the crack, which was broadcast live on the Jets' website.
"Sorry, Bruce," Ryan said, cracking a smile.
