He's officially back.

Laveranues Coles fared well in his workout at the team's training facility today and the Jets have signed the 32-year-old wide receiver to a one-year deal, marking his third stint with the team. Coles should provide depth and insurance during the season's first four games while Santonio Holmes serves his suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

He ranks fourth in Jets' franchise history in receptions, fifth in receiving yards and is tied for fifth in touchdowns.

Coles could quite possibly be let go when Holmes returns -- unless, of course, he somehow proves to be indispensible. But just his mere presence could help in the locker room, which lost a few well-liked guys in Thomas Jones and Alan Faneca.
