Jets WR Braylon Edwards was not at practice Tuesday due to a court appearance in Ohio in connection with an alleged assault outside a Cleveland nightclub back in October.

Edwards, who was excused from today's practice, pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge. He's expected to return to the Jets facility later today and participate in team meetings.

The former Browns receiver was traded to the Jets two days after he was accused of punching a friend of NBA star LeBron James on Oct. 5.

Cornerback Lito Sheppard also did not attend practice, due to the birth of his second son.
