Ex-Ravens face former team as Jets captains

BALTIMORE -  Rex Ryan spent 10 years with the Ravens, serving in a variety of roles on the defensive staff before landing the job as the Jets' head coach in January. But Ryan wasn't the only one who had been looking forward to his homecoming last night.

So, too, were the Jets' four former Ravens, and they got their chance to bask in the pregame spotlight. Linebacker Bart Scott, safety Jim Leonhard, defensive end Marques Douglas and reserve offensive lineman Michael Kracalik served as the pregame captains.

"It was great," Leonhard said. "It was good to come back and see the old guys. Obviously, we've got to play better than we are right now to win, but we saw some good things. We faced a great team.'' The Ravens reached the AFC Championship Game last season, he noted, adding: "So we're going to learn from this."

Feely stays back

Kicker Jay Feely didn't travel here as the team kept him back in New Jersey for precautionary reasons. Feely has been nursing a sore groin and the Jets want to keep his workload in check during the preseason so his injury doesn't linger. That's one of the reasons they signed free-agent kicker Parker Douglass, who handled the placekicking duties last night.
