Jets Q&A: Revis keeps tight rein on Pats' Moss

There was a lot of talk all week about Darrelle Revis holding Randy Moss to four catches for 24 yards in their first meeting. Revis said he didn't have much help and Moss disagreed. How did Round 2 go?

"That's one guy who actually won his battle," Rex Ryan said, referring to his Pro Bowl cornerback, after the Jets' 31-14 loss to the Patriots.

The 6-foot Revis kept the 6-4 Moss in check. Moss was targeted 11 times and finished with five receptions for 34 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown.

Moss and Tom Brady hooked up on the Patriots' second TD of the game, when Brady checked out of what appeared to be a running play on first-and-goal at the 4 and hit Moss with a quick strike. Revis drew a pass-interference penalty on Moss in the fourth quarter when he held Revis to keep him from intercepting a Brady pass, and the two shared a laugh about it.

Revis called Moss the best receiver he's faced and said there wasn't much conversation or trash-talking going on between the two.

Wes Welker torched the Jets for a career-high 15 receptions and 192 yards. Seemed as if they had Drew Coleman playing him most of the game. What did the secondary, which never appeared to throw Welker off his routes, have to say about failing to contain Brady's security blanket?

"We knew he was very good at changing directions going in and out of breaks," Coleman said. "We knew that he was going to get his grabs and he very seldom misses. We came out in the second half and we knew we had to change up and get after him."

Revis said: "It shows we're not getting the job done, at the end of the day. I'm not trying to call anybody out, but when you are covering Welker, you've got to press him. He and Brady are like a 1-2 punch out there."

Jim Leonhard's status was up in the air all week and he was listed as questionable. But he got the start yesterday. How comfortable was he out there wearing a carbon fiber splint to protect his broken right thumb?

Leonhard was steady, finishing second to leading tackler David Harris with 10 tackles. He didn't suffer any setbacks, and the only time he wasn't on the field was when the Jets were in goal-line formation because they were sure he wasn't going to be able to do what he had to do.

"I just knew there were certain situations I had to try to avoid or it was going to be tough," Leonhard said. "But overall, I felt like I tackled pretty well and unfortunately didn't have too many opportunities in the pass game to make a play. But I didn't feel like it really affected me too much in the ballgame. It hurt a lot more last week. There was a only a couple of plays where I hit it and it hurt for a couple of plays.''

Any injuries of note?

CB Donald Strickland left with a head injury in the second quarter after nearly being decleated by Pats lineman Mark LeVoir on a screen pass for Welker. Strickland never saw LeVoir and was totally blindsided by the hit, which knocked him woozy. CB Dwight Lowery left late in the third quarter with an ankle injury and didn't return.
