Jets to hold Green and White scrimmage
Green (and White) means go
All the individual drills and two-a-days will cease for one day when the Jets hold their annual Green & White scrimmage at SUNY Cortland Thursday night.
It will be the latest test for quarterbacks Kellen Clemens and Mark Sanchez, who are locked in a battle for the starting job. Asked what he hopes to accomplish in the scrimmage, Sanchez said: "Just being smart and managing the game, and being smart with the ball. Also moving the chains and knowing the situation."
Originally scheduled for 7 p.m., Rex Ryan decided to move the start time up an hour because he wants to play on the grass field the team had installed and it doesn't have lights.
One prediction comes true
Ryan turned a few heads at his introductory news conference in January when he said the team would be taking a trip to the White House soon when the Jets won the Super Bowl. He predicted he'd drop 20 pounds in five days on his new diet and the scale confirmed it when he weighed in Thursday.
"I have a funny feeling maybe some of my predictions may be coming right," he said. "Maybe more than just that. It was one of those things that when you see how much you actually weigh you say 'You're kidding, right?'"
