The NFL is looking into Bart Scott's actions in the Jets' locker room yesterday, according to a league spokesman.

Scott made an obscene gesture at a photographer and wasn't happy he was being photographed, saying, "Take a picture of this. Get out of my [expletive] face."

Newsday reported in Monday's editions that Scott, who took a $1 million pay cut in August from his initial salary of roughly $5 million, won't be back next season. Asked while in the locker room if he'll indeed be gone, the linebacker said: "I don’t know why, I’ve got a guaranteed contract for $4 million.”

Scott is set to earn $3.9 million in 2012 and has three years left on his deal. He wasn't on the field as much this season as he was in his first two years here, getting replaced by young linebacker Josh Mauga in certain situations -- particularly on passing downs.

Scott was the first free agent Rex Ryan targeted when he took over in 2009, meeting him at his doorstep just after midnight once free agency began, bringing him to the Jets from Baltimore.

If Scott is fined, it will mark the second time this season the league has come down hard on a member of the Jets for their actions. Ryan was slapped with a $75,000 fine for shouting an expletive at a fan heading into the tunnel at halftime of the Jets' 37-16 loss to the Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Nov. 13.

In 2010, Ryan was also fined $50,000 by the team for giving a fan the middle finger at a Mixed Martial Arts event in South Florida.
