Cumberland signs RFA tender
Jeff Cumberland has signed his one-year restricted free agent tender.
"Blessed to continue my NFL career with the @nyjets first class organization! BIG year ahead! #JETS #JetNation," he tweeted Monday.
The Jets extended a low-level tender -- worth $1.32 million a year -- to the backup tight end, who caught 29 passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns in Dustin Keller's absence last season.
With Keller now in Miami, the Jets will look to add depth and skill at the tight end position. They appeared to be in the hunt for Redskins free-agent tight end Fred Davis, but a day after he met with the Bills and cancelled a visit to the Jets, he re-signed with Washington.
The Jets, who also have Konrad Reuland on the roster, could try to shore up the position via the draft.
