A source confirmed the Jets have granted Darrelle Revis permission to visit Tampa Bay in order to undergo a physical -- a clear indication that both sides have ironed out the framework for a potential deal that could send the All-Pro cornerback to the Buccaneers.

The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Earlier this week, the Tampa Bay Times reported the Bucs' front office viewed the Jets' asking price -- Tampa Bay's 13th overall pick, as well as third- and fifth-round selections in next week's draft -- is too high, given the trade market for Revis. But the Jets' willingness to allow Revis to be checked out by the Bucs' medical staff shows both sides are close to a deal. In fact, Yahoo! Sports is reporting Revis and the Bucs have agreed on a "basic contract" and the deal should be finalized Sunday night or Monday morning.

It appears Revis departed Morristown Municipal Airport on a private plane at 11:56 a.m. and is scheduled to arrive at Tampa International Airport at 2:27 p.m.

Jets GM John Idzik divulged during his pre-draft press conference Thursday that he had a "nice talk'' recently with Revis, but Idzik did not acknowledge the ongoing communication between him and the Bucs.

"We won't discuss any supposed talks or true talks or club-to-club talks or player-to-club talks,'' Idzik said, when asked repeatedly about the team's desire to trade the three-time All-Pro cornerback.

Revis, who underwent reconstructive knee surgery in October, had to leave Arizona (where he was rehabbing) and return to the Jets' facility Monday for the start of their voluntary workouts, or risk forfeiting $3 million in roster bonuses because of a clause in his contract.

Idzik said the Jets are "pleased'' with how Revis' left knee looks, adding: "In the end, we just want what's best for the player."
