Darrelle Revis: Playing for 49ers would be 'awesome'
Though Rex Ryan has denied there's any truth to the trade rumors involving Darrelle Revis, the Jets star cornerback isn't so sure.
During an interview with Seattle fullback Michael Robinson -- who hosts a Web-based show titled "The Real Robinson Report" -- Revis said the recent tabloid report that he was being shopped at the Combine "hit home."
“This definitely hit home, especially being one of the best players out there and come to find out you’re getting shopped," he said in the interview, which appeared to be taped at Fischer Sports, the Arizona-based training facility where Revis is currently rehabbing. "Yeah, it really hits home. But my main focus is, it really doesn’t matter where I be at. I know what I can do, I’m confident in what I do. ...Whether it be there with the New York Jets or if it be with another team, I have to do what I have to do and play ball and do my services for that team."
The cornerback touched on several topics during the nine-minute interview, including his rehab from ACL surgery and his relationship with Ryan. Revis also talked about the 49ers, who have 14 picks in the upcoming NFL draft -- which would be a big bargaining tool if they're interested in bringing Revis Island to the West Coast.
Asked if his addition to the 49ers' roster would ensure a Super Bowl title, Revis replied: “This is a team with a great coach, Harbaugh, and great players on their team. They did it without me last year. For me, looking at their roster and their team, I would just be an addition to help them win that trophy.
"Would it be awesome? I mean, yeah. My main goal as a player, and I think all of us as players in the NFL, is to hold that Lombardi Trophy in the air and to wear that ring. They’re definitely a contender and they’ll be a contender for the next couple of years. ...We’ll see. My representatives are going to do the best job they can for me, whether I stay a New York Jet or I have to move on somewhere else."
