Ex-Jet Dustin Keller out for season due to knee injury
Former Jet Dustin Keller will miss the entire 2013 season due to a knee injury, according to multiple reports.
The tight end, who signed a one-year deal with Miami this offseason, suffered the season-ending injury in the Dolphins’ 24-17 preseason loss Saturday night to the Texans. Keller was carted off the field after safety D.J. Swearinger’s helmet collided with Keller’s knee and bent the receiver’s leg backward.
Despite his track record of durability over his five-year career, Keller’s production has been curtailed the past two seasons due to injury. He played in just eight games in 2012 – his final year with the Jets – because of a nagging hamstring injury and high ankle sprain.
Thinking he’d have a breakout season in 2013, Keller gambled and took a one-year, $4.25 million deal with the Dolphins. And now, his tenure with the Dolphins is over before it ever really began.
