Let's just say, Joe Flacco won’t be too pleased if he and the Ravens return to the Super Bowl next season.

The Baltimore quarterback – who will face the 49ers Sunday in Super Bowl XVLII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans – expressed his displeasure with MetLife Stadium being the tabbed as the site for next year’s game.

“I think it’s retarded,” Flacco told reporters Monday of MetLife Stadium, the first outdoor cold-weather Super Bowl venue. “I probably shouldn’t say that. I think it's stupid. If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one.

“Other than that I don't really like the idea," added Flacco, who grew up in southwest New Jersey and played college football at Delaware. "I don’t think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather.”

Next year’s Super Bowl will be held at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on Feb. 2, 2014. At a news conference at City Hall last Thursday, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league is “thrilled” that next year’s Super Bowl is being hosted in the New York area.

“Football is made to be played in the elements,” he said. “…We’re going to celebrate the game here. We’re going to celebrate the weather here. We’re going to make it a great experience.”
