As Geno Smith sees it, there’s no reason to worry about the NFLPA’s inquiry into his relationship with Roc Nation Sports and Hip-Hop mogul/entrepreneur Jay-Z.

“I don’t have any concerns,” Smith said after Thursday’s OTA workout. “Jay-Z didn’t recruit me.”

The Jets rookie quarterback parted ways with his previous agency, Select Sports, after the April draft. Last week, Smith announced that he was teaming up with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation and NFLPA-certified agent Kimberly Miale.

But according to Pro Football Talk, the players union is “aggressively pursuing” Jay-Z’s role as a runner in signing Smith to Roc Nation sports agency. Per league rules, non-NFLPA-certified agents cannot recruit players to sign with an NFLPA-certified agent.

Shortly before Smith confirmed he had signed with Roc Nation, he tweeted an Instagram photo of him side-by-side with Jay-Z – which, naturally, helped fuel the speculation.

Nevertheless, the quarterback maintained on Thursday that nothing was amiss when he made his agent choice.

“I chose Roc Nation Sports for management because it’s something that myself, and my family, came to a conclusion (about) and we felt comfortable with and I’m happy to be a part of that,” he said.

“But I’m here to talk about football. That’s life outside of football and what I do in this locker room and on that field is what matters now.”

According to USA TODAY Sports, however, Smith wasn't truthful with reporters Thursday.

Citing an anonymous source, the newspaper claimed Smith said Jay-Z "had lined up a woman to represent him on all contract matters" and that Smith told the source he "hadn't actively sought out" Miale.
