Geno Smith posts pic with Jay-Z
They say a picture is worth a thousand words.
Well, now rumors are swirling that Geno Smith is one step closer to becoming an official member of RocNation after he posted a photo of himself with Jay-Z Sunday.
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports is one of five sports agencies that have rrecently pitched to Smith, who fired representatives Erik Burkhardt and Jeff Nalley of Select Sports Group following the NFL draft.
Though not a certified NFLPA agent, Jay-Z has teamed up with CAA Football. But CAA reportedly wasn't involved in the recruiting process of Smith. Roc Nation recently inked Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and former Notre Dame star, and current Tulsa Shock rookie, Skylar Diggins as clients.
Per NFL rules, Smith had to wait five days before hiring a new agent. But the rookie QB said during last week’s rookie minicamp that he is in no rush to find new representation.
“No matter who I hire, it’s going to be in the best interest of Geno Smith,” he said.
Priority Sports -- the firm that recently hired former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum to head its coaches, front office and broadcasters division -- is also bidding to represent Smith, who was picked 39th overall by the Jets.
