Guards Willie Colon and Stephen Peterman have a combined 17 years of experience between them. Brian Winters has none.

But the Jets' rookie offensive lineman doesn’t see that as a disadvantage.

“I don’t look at it like that,” Winters said. “I look at it as a learning period and I’m not really worried about that.”

Winters, a third-round pick in April, has shifted from tackle, the position he played at Kent State. Though Colon and Peterman have been getting the bulk of the first-team reps on the offensive line, Jets coach Rex Ryan isn’t ready to rule out the possibility of Winters beating out either of them for a starting spot.

“I think Winters has been impressive as well," Ryan said. "We’ve worked Winters with that group as well; really rotating all three of them throughout the OTAs, so I’m not ready to say those two are the definite starters. I think Winters deserves a shot and I think he’ll definitely get one.”
