Rex Ryan confirmed Jeremy Kerley was diagnosed Monday with a concussion, but the Jets coach wasn't ready to rule out the slot receiver for Thursday night's divisional game in New England.

"Well, you have to be prepared for that scenario," he said Tuesday. "But we’re not going to officially announce anyone being out until tomorrow."

Translation: Kerley's out.

Need more proof? The Jets re-signed Ben Obomanu, a wide receiver who's familiar with the West Coast Offense and spent time in Seattle while John Idzik was in the front office.

Meanwhile, New England is extremely banged up. The Patriots announced Tuesday that they placed running back Shane Vereen on injured reserve (with the designation to return) due to a fractured bone in his wrist and he reportedly underwent surgery.

The earlier Vereen could return to action is eight weeks -- meaning he'll miss both games against the Jets (Week 2 and 7). There's also a question of whether Danny Amendola will be healthy enough to suit up as well.
