The Jets announced Monday afternoon that they have chosen to activate David Garrard to 53-man roster and release fellow quarterback Brady Quinn.

Garrard, 35, re-joined the team on Oct. 10 and was placed on the Jets' exempt list for two games. The team had until 4 p.m. Monday to decide whether they wanted to add him to their active roster or stick with Quinn. Garrard, a nine-year NFL veteran, was signed to a $1.1-million deal in March, but was forced to leave the team because of a nagging knee injury.

The move isn't surprising, considering Quinn wasn't able to supplant first-year QB Matt Simms on the depth chart after he arrived in early September. But don't feel too badly for Quinn -- according to multiple reports, he already is scheduled to work out Tuesday for the Rams, who lost Sam Bradford to an ACL injury Sunday.
