It was obvious the Jets were hoping to name Dave Caldwell Mike Tannenbaum’s successor when they brought the Falcons director of player personnel to New Jersey for a second interview last week.

Well, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King detailed just how badly the Jets wanted to land Caldwell in his “Monday Morning Quarterback.”

According to King, the Jets took Caldwell on a tour of the surrounding area near the team’s Florham Park facility, and included a $1 million housing allowance in the contract package they prepared for Caldwell.

Wrote King: “In the annals of Perks Given to NFL General Managers, I would say that takes the cake.”

Caldwell ultimately chose to be Jacksonville's GM and, in one fell swoop, killed any speculation about Tim Tebow's future in Florida.
