Add Josh Mauga to the injured reserve list.

In an expected move, the Jets placed the backup linebacker on IR after an MRI Monday revealed he had a torn pectoral muscle. Mauga now joins WR Santonio Holmes (Lisfranc), FB Josh Baker (ACL), CB Royce Adams (knee) and TE Dedrick Epps (knee) to the reserved/injured list.

Not to mention, the Jets likely will put All-Pro corner Darrelle Revis on injured reserve following his ACL surgery.

Rex Ryan also announced the team has signed free agent nose tackle, and former Colt, Daniel Muir. The defensive lineman has rotated between the Colts and Packers over the past few years, but played just four games for Indianapolis last season. He finished with 11 tackles – and also sacked Sanchez in the AFC wild card game in January 2011.

He was released by the Colts and signed with the Packers in the offseason -- Muir, however, did not make Green Bay's final 53-man roster.

Here's some background on Muir, via an email we just receiver from the Jets:

Muir has appeared in 43 career games, with 26 starts, collecting 108 tackles. He initially entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Packers, appearing in three games as a rookie. After he was waived by Green Bay following training camp, he was claimed by Indianapolis (08/31/08) and played in 36 games for the Colts from 2008-10. Last season, he signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Rams (08/02/11), spending a portion of training camp with St. Louis before his release (09/03/11) and later re-joined the Colts (10/10/11), spending four games with the team before being waived (11/08/11).
