Jets sign G Peterman, per source

Free-agent guard Stephen Peterman visited the Jets three weeks ago but left without a deal. On Friday, both sides were able to reach an agreement.

The former Detroit Lion siged a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum, according to a source.

Hours earlier, the Jets drafted Kent State offensive lineman Brian Winters in the third round (72nd overall).

With Matt Slauson (now a Chicago Bear) and Brandon Moore (unsigned free agent) no longer in the picture, the Jets currently have Vladimir Ducasse, Willie Colon, Caleb Schlauderaff, Winters and Peterman as possible guard options.

Over the past three years, Peterman, 31, started every game at right guard for the Lions. He was selected by the Cowboys in the third-round (83rd overall) of the 2004 draft.
