Nick’s used to media attention as a former All-Big Ten center for Ohio State and current All-Pro center for the Jets. But it’s his sister, Holley who’s the one drawing notice of late. The 23-year-old has made headlines as she prepares to represent the U.S. as a weightlifter in this summer’s Olympic Games in London. The Olympics overlap with Jets training camp, however, and Nick said he didn’t feel right leaving the team in the middle of camp.

CORTLAND – With just four days until Holley Mangold makes her Olympic debut, Rex Ryan’s still trying to coax Nick Mangold into going to London.

Slowly but surely, the Jets coach believes he’s wearing down his offensive lineman.

“I think so,” Ryan said. “We’re not there yet, but I’m laying the guilt trip on him and everything else.”

Even though the coach gave Mangold his blessing this offseason to travel to overseas to see his sister compete in the Olympic weightlifting competition, the Jets center repeatedly has said he won’t go due to his commitment to the team.

But now even his teammates are getting on his case too.

“They’re pushing him as well,” said Ryan. “It’s not just me.”
