Looks like Laron Landry is a step closer to showing the Jets -- and their fans -- what he can do.

The team announced Thursday morning that the safety has been activated off the active/PUP list, meaning he'll be able to participate in training camp practice.

The first practice session is Friday morning and closed to the public.

The former Redskin, was placed on the active/PUP on Monday, raising some doubt about the safety's Achilles and heel injuries. Despite rehabbing from those two injuries and spending much of the offseason away from his new defense, Landry told reporters in June that he had "no doubt" he'd return for minicamp "and not be ready."

He spent two or three weeks with the Jets during theit offseason strength and conditioning program, but returned to Arizona to have stem cell treatments for the Achilles tendon/heel injury that ended his 2011 season with the Redskins.

At the time, Landry said he was "shocked" at his rehab progression, but when asked about his status for his training camp he only said: "As of right now, I'm progressing. Things are going real well. Can't wait to get back out there and be with the team."
