Matt Slauson's tenure with the Jets is officially over.

The free-agent left guard has signed a one-year deal with the Bears, the team announced Friday afternoon. Slauson, who spent the past four seasons with the Jets, is expected to fill the vacant spot left by Lance Louis, who signed Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins.

“He brings physical play and smarts to the offensive guard position and to the offensive line as an overall unit," Bears general manager Phil Emery said of Slauson. "His size, strength and power will allow him to challenge for either of the starting guard positions.”

With the recent departures of Slauson and running back Shonn Greene (Titans), the Jets have only one remaining member of their 2009 draft class: quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The Jets recently signed former Steeler Willie Colon to replace Brandon Moore, who is expected to sign elsewhere as well. But Jets general manager John Idzik still needs to find a replacement for Slauson.

Slauson -- who was drafted in the sixth round by the team in 2009 -- entered last year's camp as the starting left guard, but was forced to compete with Ducasse, a 2010 draft pick. Shortly after Slauson took a pay cut of $258,000, he was named the starter.

The Jets brought in free-agent guard Jake Scott for a visit Thursday, but he reportedly left without a deal. The 31-year-old spent four years in Indy, where he won a Super Bowl and three years in Tennessee before joining the Eagles midway through the 2012 season.

Slauson generated news this past season with his peel-back block on Texans' linebacker Brian Cushing -- a move which resulted in Cushing missing the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. Earlier this month, NFL owners voted to eliminate peel-back blocks against defenseless defenders.
