More Tebow? 'We'll see' says Rex
Rex Ryan made it clear that the Jets will do whatever it takes to ensure a winning season. Now, how much Tim Tebow factors into their turnaround remains to be seen.
This time, it wasn’t the media who brought up the backup quarterback’s name during the coach’s presser. It was Ryan himself, who floated Tebow’s name while responding to an inquiry about Mark Sanchez.
Asked if he planned to sit down with his much-maligned starting quarterback this week, Ryan went on a different tangent. He said the key focus is “how we are using everybody,” not just Tebow or Sanchez.
Interestingly enough, the Jets coach said before the bye week that he would take a “hard look” at how Tebow had been utilized and how he and offensive coordinator Tony Sparano could better use Tebow in the second half of the season. But Ryan wouldn’t say whether the backup QB would see more playing time going forward.
“I don’t want to get into specific things,” he said of Tebow, who is averaging just seven offensive snaps a game. “I guess we’ll see.”
With the Seattle Seahawks (5-4) on the horizon – a difficult road game, to say the least -- Ryan began his Monday press conference by saying he is dedicated to putting the best team on the field.
“Understand that we will do what it takes to put our team in the best situation to try to win games,” the coach said.
I guess time will tell if that entails more Tebowtime.
