To the surprise of no one, Scott Pioli no longer is the GM for Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, could that have any bearing on the Jets GM search?

The Jets are scheduled to interview former Browns GM Tom Heckert on Saturday -- but it was widely assumed he'd be joining Andy Reid, who is expected to be named coach of the Chiefs any day now.

Today, however, John Dorsey has emerged as the mystery man in Reid's plans. Dorsey,  the Packers’ director of football operations, reportedly has very strong ties to the Kansas City area.

This isn't good for the Jets, who are scheduled to meet with Dorsey this weekend.

So, is it possible Pioli could reunite with the Jets?

Pioli was hired as the Jets' director of pro personnel back in 1997, and in just two seasons working with head coach Bill Parcells, the team completed a worst-to-first turnaround (1-15 in 1996 to a 12-4 record in 1998).

Pioli then left the Jets in 2000 and joined Bill Belichick and the Patriots. During his seven-year stint in New England, Pioli was the assistant, director and vice president of player personnel.
