Plaxico Burress holding out hope he'll play this season
Plaxico Burress still is biding his time.
The former Jets and Giants wide receiver continues to work out in hopes that he'll be ready if (and when) his phone rings. Despite having not received any offers to this point, Burress remains optimistic he'll get a chance to play this season.
“I’m still training very hard three or four days a week and looking to get into the right situation," he said Friday on NFL Network's NFL AM. "And just waiting for the opportunity to be able to go out and do what I love to do, and that’s play football.”
“I just want to go back to playing football,” he went on to say, adding that he keeps tabs on NFL teams by watching games every Sunday. "It’s not about picking and choosing, or any of those situations, it’s about me just being able to go and do what I love to do, and that’s play football. It doesn’t have to be anyone in particular.”
Burress also denied a recent report that was pulled over and ticketed for 100 mph on a motorcyle. The former football star clarified that he was driving a Ferrari -- and that he wasn't going 50 miles over the speed limit.
"It was close to that," he said. "But going fast in a Ferrari, doing 100 in a Ferrari, feels like 45.”
