For the second straight day, Stephen Hill was on the practice field. But this time, the Jets second-year wideout was wearing a red non-contact pinnie and shells.

It’s a step in the right direction for Hill, who suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Sunday’s game in Tennessee. With Santonio Holmes (hamstring) expected to be ruled out for Monday night’s game in Atlanta, the Jets and Geno Smith could use all the weapons they can get. But it’s still too early to know whether Hill will be medically-cleared in time to face the Falcons.

Sporting pink cleats for Breast Cancer Awareness month, Hill worked off to the side with receivers coach Sanjay Lal during special teams drills. Then, he moved on to position drills.

But while Hill was an active participant on the practice field, Mike Goodson was being tended to by trainers. During special teams drills, the Jets running back walked off with head trainer John Mellody and out of view from the media. A few minutes, they returned to the field and Goodson headed to the rehab area. There, he worked one-on-one with a trainer. The running back did some walking stretches with a black rubber band around his legs – moving, first, from side to side and then front and back. Then Goodson joined rookie corner Dee Milliner on the stationary bikes.

As the media was ushered off the field, Goodson got off the bike and went back to the rehab area (presumably to do more stretching exercises) and Jets general manager John Idzik walked onto the field.

IVORY PRACTICES: A day after not practicing, Chris Ivory (hamstring) was on the field – in shells – with his teammates. Cautious optimism is understandable, considering the running back’s injury history during his brief Jets tenure. But nevertheless, Ivory’s presence on the field was a good sign for the Jets.

…Meanwhile, Milliner (hamstring) was not in uniform. He warmed up and participated in some defensive backs drills, but spent most of the 20-minute media period on the bike. …Outside linebacker Quinton Coples also wasn’t wearing a practice jersey, but he took part in drills with the defensive linemen. …Mark Sanchez (short-term IR) emerged on the practice field for the first time this week toward the tail-end of the media viewing session
