The end apparently is in sight.

The Jets plan to name a new general manager by Thursday, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, after concluding final interviews on Wednesday.

The team reportedly has narrowed down the hefty field of applicants to at least three.

Steelers executive Omar Khan already has interviewed and is one of the finalists. According to La Canfora, John Idzik of the Seahawks flew in from Seattle Tuesday and will meet with the Jets Wednesday. In-house assistant GM Scott Cohen is also in the mix.

La Canfora contends former Bears GM Jerry Angelo was not asked back for a second interview and that if the Jets went outside the organization, there would "likely be sweeping changes coming to the front office."

A source confirmed Tuesday night that Giants director of college scouting Marc Ross pulled out of consideration, citing the Jets' ever-changing timetable.
