Report: Jets tried to trade for Braylon
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jets expressed interest in trading for Braylon Edwards earlier in the season, according to CBS Sports.
Citing league sources, NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reported Sunday that the Jets approached Seattle long before before the Week 8 trade deadline. But the Seahawks, at the time, were still interested in holding on to the former Jets receiver.
Edwards now finds himself out of job after being released with a waive/injured designation. His release came the day after he tweeted some harsh words about the Jets front office.
Rex Ryan was asked last month -- just before the Jets faced Seattle -- if he had any regret not re-signing Edwards.
“It’s always a two-way street,” Ryan said on Nov. 8. “In our situation, we had just drafted a young receiver we felt great about. You had Santonio Holmes, you had (Jeremy) Kerley, a young guy that we thought could be a guy that’s on the upside. So you’re looking at your roster, you evaluate your team a certain way. Would things have been different had Holmes had an injury earlier? I don’t know.”
