Just when it seemed the Jets GM search would last another day....ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted moments ago that Seattle executive John Idzik has emerged as the "clear frontrunner" to replace Mike Tannebaum.

And according to Schefter, Idzik could be offered the Jets' vacant GM job "as early as tonight."

Idzik, the Seahawks vice president of football administration, is a number’s guy with football experience. He was a wide receiver for Ivy League Dartmouth and coached in various capacities for Duke, SUNY Buffalo and Scotland’s Aberdeen Oilers. His father, John, also was an assistant coach for the Jets from 1976-79. Idzik – who helped build the eventual 2008 NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals – reportedly flew in from Seattle earlier this week to have his second interview with the Jets.

On Wednesday, CBS Sports reported the Jets would hire Tannebaum's replacement by today. But as the hours passed, it seemed no formal announcement was coming.

...Until Schefter's tweet.

Stay tuned folks.
