Report: Michael Vick to visit Jets this weekend
Michael Vick is planning to vist the Jets this weekend, according to NJ.com.
The controversial quarterback remains the team's top choice, after losing out on fellow free agent Josh McCown. McCown was scheduled to visit the Bucs, Texans and then Jets last week -- but instead signed a two-year deal with Tampa Bay.
So far, the Jets' biggest free-agent acquisition has been wideout Eric Decker. But general manager John Idzik still needs a veteran QB alongside Geno Smith. Vick has made it clear he wants to be a starter, so it'll be interesting to see how his visit goes with the Jets.
While the rival Giants have been spending a quite a bit during free agency, Idzik & Co. have remained relatively quiet. The Jets have obvious holes to fill -- namely at cornerback, following the release of Antonio Cromartie and the Giants' signing of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Quarterback, however, is another big concern.
But will Vick ultimately fill that hole?
As of now, Mark Sanchez still is a Jet. The veteran QB is expected to be released before March 25 -- the day he's due to earn his $2 million roster bonus. But if the Jets can't secure a free-agent veteran, there's a chance Sanchez could stick around. (Maybe.)
