Revis: 'Doesn't matter' if he's a Jet or not
Darrelle Revis believes in Mark Sanchez, provided the Jets get the quarterback some offensive help.
During the second part of his sitdown interview with Seattle fullback Michael Robinson on the "Real Rob Report," Revis said Sanchez can be a winner "but we need to put the right weapons around him for him to be successful."
That statement came as no surprise, considering the state of the Jets' offense in 2012 — and Revis' comments to Newsday last August about whether management has done enough to help Sanchez succeed.
"That should be our focus with Mark Sanchez, put the right players around him," the cornerback said in the web-based interview.
Revis, however, didn't sound so convinced about Tim Tebow's NFL longevity. When asked by Robinson (a former college quarterback) if Tebow could make the transition to fullback or make it as a successful quarterback, Revis chuckled.
"Man, that's a tough question," Revis said, before pausing for several seconds. "I think anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I know Tim is a hard worker and he's always gonna be like that, it's really not my opinion of what he does and what he's going to do in the future, it depends on teams and if they want him.
"If he stays with us we should try and get him a Wildcat package that really fits him and surround him with guys that can really help him in that package. If he ends up going somewhere else, I think they'll have to focus on that too."
Revis touched on several topics during the interview, including new GM John Idzik ("He's trying to clean house to get some great players in here") and whether or not Seattle's Richard Sherman is one of the top cornerback's in the NFL ("He's on his way").
Revis also delivered a message to his fans around the 8:35-mark of the interview, vowing that he'll return as a shutdown corner again — for the Jets or another team.
"Revis Island will be back on the field soon," he said. "I don't know, we'll see where the future leads to — if I'll be back with the Jets or not. It really doesn't matter. I just want to play football.”
