Speculation has swirled for months that Darrelle Revis’ days as a New York Jet are numbered. But as the weeks continue to pass, the cornerback has reportedly become less and less sure that he’ll eventually end up in Tampa Bay.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said on-air Friday that he spoke to “someone who spoke to Revis as recent as last week” and the All-Pro corner is “not optimistic” that a deal will get done with the Buccaneers after all.

The Bucs have emerged as the sole landing spot for Revis, given his delicate situation – i.e., his uncertain health following ACL surgery in October and his desire for a hefty, long-term contact.

Revis has always maintained he wants to be a Jet for life. But the cornerback most certainly wants to get paid. At the same time, Jets owner Woody Johnson has made it clear he’ll “always listen” to trade requests involving players – even Revis.

The Bucs are willing to give up their first- and second-round NFL draft picks in 2014 in exchange for the injured cornerback. But the sticking point between the two teams is the Jets' insistence on acquiring the Bucs' 13th overall pick in this month's draft.

The Jets currently have the 9th pick.

Rapoport speculated during his TV spot on NFL Network’s “Total Access” that a Revis trade could go down “maybe Monday or Tuesday” before the three-day draft, which starts April 25.
