Revis prepares for NJ return, MRI Monday
The NFL Network’s latest installment of the “The Revis Project” didn’t delve into Darrelle Revis’ deepest thoughts about possibly being dealt to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Instead, it provided a glimpse of the three-time All-Pro cornerback running for the first time since he underwent reconstructive knee surgery in October.
“I can’t wait ‘til my name gets called when I run out the tunnel, where I usually be -- in my comfort zone,” Revis, who is currently rehabbing in Arizona, told reporter Andrea Kremer. "...I just thank God that I got a second chance.”
Revis is expected to attend the Jets voluntary workouts, starting Monday – namely for financial reasons. According to NFL Network, he'll get an MRI on Monday and have a consultation with his surgeon Dr. Russell Warren. If all looks good, he’ll be cleared for full weight-bearing running.
As for the trade speculation, Revis didn’t say much. As he’s said all along, he’s just focused on his rehab.
“If I’m there, if I’m not,” he said of the Jets, “That’s the next phase for me in my career: these next couple wks.”
Despite his expressed desire to finish his career with the Jets, the assumption is Revis will end up with the Bucs, most likely with a trade during the week of the April 25 NFL draft.
